Mission: To endeavour for developing the standards and quality of the media, skill & ethics of the media professionals, physical and mental health and well-being of the people, and empowerment of women, adolescents, children, minority and other marginalised section of the population.

Vision: MRDI, a multi-disciplinary, not-for-profit, non-government organisation as well as a company limited by guarantee, is engaged to a wide spectrum of social development activities and seeks to render services to national and international organisations, both in the public and the private sectors.

 
ORGANOGRAM:

MRDI's mandates and activities are managed and implemented by a group of highly qualified professionals under the leadership of its Executive Director and the broader guidance and supervision of the Board of Directors/Executive Committee.

Apart from the directors, the full-time staff members including managers, researchers, mid-level and field personnel having specialised skills carry out the organisation's project activities in line with the vision of MRDI.

The firm's reputation in social development activities principally stem from the presence of quality professionals in its fold and the professional consultants associated with the organisation under its pooling system.

The consultants having substantial experiences in their respective areas help MRDI executive staff members carry out their activities more efficiently and attain the targeted results of each programme.

Nature of Activities:

•  Media and Communications: MRDI p rovides a range of media and communication solutions. These include formulating communication, advocacy and media management strategies; capacity building of journalists and public relations professionals through training, workshop and orientation programmes.

Other related activities include print and electronic media monitoring; media research; media content analysis; media campaign through organising workshops, seminars, symposiums, discussions ; production of television and radio programmes, providing technical support in media relations and media management and bridging the media with other sectors.

•  Social interventions : Programmes of information, education, motivation and awareness-building on different important national issues such as health; education and literacy; trade, industry and development; politics, democracy and governance; environment, food security and population.

The other issues include human rights, marginalised groups' rights, gender, sexual abuse, acid throwing, drug addition, HIV/AIDS, labour, trafficking, migration, rights of ethnic minority, etc.

Corporate governance & corporate social responsibility, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and other development issues are some areas of priority.

  • Consultancy Services : Provides consultancy services to government and non-government/donor organisations in policy and programme formulation relating to media, communication, journalism, public relations and activities related to relevant issues/topics.
  • Printing, Publication, Production, Translation, Media Monitoring and News-clipping Service : Is involved in the production of news-letters, manuals, reports, booklets, and translation covering Bangla & English, media monitoring clipping service on several development issues.
  • Workshops/Seminars, Campaigns and Event Management : Organises meetings, brainstorming sessions, workshops, seminars and press conferences for facilitating projects and also takes up media campaigns on behalf of any individual or agency and Event Management especially relating to Media and Communications.
  • Planning and Research Facilities:
    • MRDI's in-house and pooled professionals have worked in various parts of the world. Their broad-based exposure, ability to perform and conventional wisdom synergistically congealed into a very effective expert-base for the entity which is topped up by a high team spirit wherever they represent MRDI . This makes possible for the team of experts to make a collective and well-orchestrated effort in coming up with appropriate plans, designs and implementation modalities for programmes/projects.
    • MRDI is well equipped and possesses the right stratagem to evolve the appropriate idea for various challenging problems and constraints that might adversely affect a project. It has a rich library, which has more than 2000 books, journals, directories, reports, project papers, training materials published both locally and internationally. The library is of great assistance to the key personnel to improve their knowledge over the expanse of socio-economic frontiers and facets of the country.

Partners of MRDI:

MRDI works in partnership with international and local donor and development agencies, embassies, and UN agencies. The partners help MRDI by providing necessary assistance in the form of funds and expertise. The funds come mainly from government and non-government grants; donations and contributions from home and abroad; loans, fees and charges imposed by the Initiative for services; income from investments, and fees and subscription from MRDI members.
